Romania hides some world heritage sites which are true architectural monuments, besides the amazing and picturesque landscapes that touch the soul of every nature-lover.

Budget travels in Bucovina and Moldavia

Bucovina, with its painted monasteries included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, represents the first region we are going to visit in our Romania budget tour.

Day 1: Bucharest
After arriving at Bucharest Henri Coanda Airport and meeting our guide-driver, you’ll be transferred to the hotel for check-in and accommodation overnight.

Day 2: Bucharest – Mud Volcanoes – Piatra Neamt – GuraHumorului
On the way to Gura Humorului, you will have the chance to see one of the fewest Mud Volcanoes in Europe, giving you the feeling that you are in a strange lunar scenery.
Then, we are going to admire the vineyards of Vrancea County on the way to Piatra Neamt, which will be the next stop on our budget tour. In Piatra Neamt we’ll stop not only for the tourist attractions, but also for lunch. The night will be spent in Gura Humorului, after a short visit to Agapia Monastery, which has one of the largest communities of nuns in Romania.

Day 3: GuraHumorului – Voronet Monastery – Modovita Monastery – Sucevita Monastery – GuraHumorului
The countryside landscape of Bucovina will be shown in true splendor heading to the next attractions of our budget tour in Romania. The Sistine Chapel of the East reveals itself in the external painting of theVoronet Monastery, erected in 1488, famous for the Last Judgment scene. Other monasteries we are going to visit are Moldovita and Sucevita, the first with impressive frescoes from 1537 and the latter with the painted “ Ladder of virtues”, the broadest interpretation of this scene from the entire Romanian iconography.

Our Romania budget tour continues with the village of Marginea, well-known for the black pottery which is unique in the world. Then we are going back to Gura Humorului.

Day 4: GuraHumorului – Bicaz Gorges – Praid – Sighisoara
We leave Bucovina behind and head to Transylvania, crossing the Eastern Carpathian Mountains through Bicaz Gorge, among Romania’s most spectacular ones. With their lovely image in mind and the view of the Red Lake, we arrive in the village of Praid for visiting the local salt mine. In the evening, we will arive in the medieval town of Sighisoara, another UNESCO World Heritage Site, for spending the night.

Any budget tour in Eastern Europe should include Transylvania

Day 5: Sighisoara – Biertan – Sibiu
Exploring the Old Town of Sighisoara with narrow streets, colorful houses, old churches, cosy cafes and cheap restaurants will give you the satisfaction of visiting one of the best destinations in Europe on a budget.
One of the attractions we are going to visit is the Dracula`s house where Vlad the Impaler was born in 1431.

The day ends with the city of Sibiu, after a stop in Biertan, to see the fortified church, another UNESCO site. Some of the landmarks of Sibiu are the Bruckenthal National Museum, the Evangelical Cathedral, the Passage of Stairs linking the Upper town to the Lower town, the Liar`s Bridge and the Orthodox Cathedral.

Day 6: Sighisoara – Bran Castle – Brasov – Peles Castle – Bucharest
The last day we drive towards Bran Village to visit Dracula’s Castle, which inspired many legends, discovering the city of Brasov after lunch, one of the most important cities of Transylvania. Peles Castle from the charming resort of Sinaia is the last attraction in our Romania budget tour. Your return flight is waiting for you in Bucharest.
